Beaches: Las Canteras Beach

Las Canteras Beach, is one of the few European beaches that are set in a city and where swimming is permitted 365 days a year.

The city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has the privilege of having such a beach, but one that has a couple of features that makes it simply perfect: the rich marine life it holds and in particular, the reef that protects the beach from the rough sea. The locals call this rocky formation “La Barra” (the bar), which you can easily get to when it is low tide.

Beaches: Pools of Galdar

Piscinas de Galdar

In the NW of Gran Canary Island, there is a small city full of history and many places of interest, including natural pools.

These natural pools and Agüjero Beach are very popular with surfers, fishermen, swimmers or mere passers-by.

Many people choose the Pools of Galdar for their calm and crystal-clear waters where they can have a lovely, relaxing swim or see the many different species of fish that live there.

Beaches: Anfi del Mar

Anfi del Mar, una playa con corazón
The Island of Gran Canaria has a huge number of beaches, some of which are natural and others are artificial; but one thing stands out: they each have their own particular charm.

One of these beaches lies SW of the island, between Puerto Rico and Arguineguín. Anfi del Mar is a beautiful, quiet, artificial beach.

This beach is not very long, but its white sands and crystal clear waters make it almost dreamlike… it looks just like the Caribbean.

If you visit Anfi del Mar, don’t just stay on the beach, go for a walk too around the area; it’s a very special place.

Cities: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria, as I mentioned in the previous article, has many tourist attractions, one of them being Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is over 530 years old, although it wasn’t until 1478 that it was founded as a city because originally it was a military base. The following link provides more information on the history of the city. (Click).
