BEACHES: CUEVAS DEL MAR BEACH

In the previous article I wrote about a small but tremendously beautiful beach, Guadamía Beach. This time I’d like to tell you about one of the many other beaches in the municipality of Llanes, Cuevas del Mar Beach.
Unlike Guadamía Beach, Cuevas del Mar Beach does not owe its name to the river that runs into it, River de Nueva, but rather to the caves that are found in the rocks on this beach, caused by sea erosion.
This beach in Llanes can be reached by car and apart from being beautiful it is sheltered from the wind thanks to its shell-like form, making it ideal for a fantastic day on the beach.
But Cuevas del Mar Beach is not just for sunbathing – it is also the perfect enclave to do active tourism, like rock-climbing.
It has clean waters, a sea-bed with no brusque depressions, it’s an average 1.5m deep and a long et cetera which makes this beach the destination of many tourists.
