In the middle of the countryside, the Cantabrian Chain to be precise, you can find the youngest village in the province of León: Riaño.
This small village is not yet 13 years old, given that the old Riaño was flooded by the dam which was named after it.
The old hamlet was destroyed to make the Riaño dam navigable and to admit certain water sports, such as sailing, windsurf, canoeing, water-skiing, etc.
Riaño is an important village for tourism as you can do all sorts of activities: hillwalking, water sports, cultural visits, etc.
