ROUTE: “ARRIONDAS – PENDÁS – COLLÍA – ARRIONDAS”

Today we shall go on a rather short excursion, good for first-time hillwakers although you can also do this route by bicycle.

This route runs through part of the Ruta de la Verde (Green Route). We can start our excursion from any point in Arriondas, but today we shall start from the Plaza Venancio Pando, where you can visit the famous Arriondas canon and the town hall of the municipality of Parres.

Once we begin our walk, we move along Fuentes road in the direction of Pendás, from where we will have spectacular views of the Picos de Europa, the River Sella and the capital of the municipality of Parres, Arriondas. We cross the village of Pendás until we get to the end of the road where we will reach the Fuente de Arpaes (Fountain of Arpaes) (the path from the end of the road to the fountain is cemented).

This fountain marks the beginning of a path that will take us to Collía. We will find marks along this path that indicate the way until we reach a crossing where there is a high voltage power line. It is really where the path divides into two rather than a crossing, and the path to the left will take us to Collía.

As we arrive at this village, we will find marks that indicate the way back to Pendás and from there to Arriondas.

This is a route worth doing; you’ll enjoy the countryside and amazing views of the National Park of the Picos de Europa, Pico Moro, the Sierra del Sueve, the Cruz del Pienzu, forests, indigenous trees…In short, a spectacular route perfect for experts and amateurs.
