Close to Ponferrada, in the province of León, is the village of Molinaseca. You can find all the possible tourist attractions that you could ask for here: tradition, culture, history, nature… and of course… The Way of Saint James.
Molinaseca is highly attractive to pilgrims, who enter the village by crossing the River Meruelo with its crystal waters, over the pilgrims’ bridge or De los siete arcos (of the seven arches).

Ponferrada is a beautiful city which the River Sil runs through. Its many ruins hold great cultural importance, providing evidence of the different civilisations that lived there in the past.
One of these ruins is the Ponferrada Castle, declared a Historic Artistic Monument in 1924.

NATURE: “FINISTERRE, THE END OF THE WORLD”

La Costa de la Muerte (The Coast of Death) in Galicia is well-known, especially by sailors, as this part of the coast has caused and continues to cause many shipwrecks. But this post is not about the negative side of this coast, but of a particular area, Finisterre.
The cape of Finisterre is on La Costa de la Muerte. As we have just mentioned, its name reflects the high number of ships that have sunk along this coastline. However, to think that this beautiful, steep and craggy coastline could be the cause of so many shipwrecks is something of a paradox.

CULTURE: “THE WAY OF SAINT JAMES (CAMINO DE SANTIAGO)”

The Camino de Santiago offers several pilgrim routes, all of which begin in different spots but they all share the same destination: Santiago de Compostela.
In ancient times, the Way of St James was taken by pilgrims who sought to discover the essence of their faith and recollection, but today there are several reasons: as a challenging sport, or for cultural reasons: the Way of St James runs past Romanesque and Gothic styles, Templars and Benedictine monks; or for the views and myths; all of which make this journey a very picturesque experience, to say the least.
