Ponferrada is a beautiful city which the River Sil runs through. Its many ruins hold great cultural importance, providing evidence of the different civilisations that lived there in the past.

Dec 5, 2009 Mountain, Nature, Landscapes, Tourism
There is a river that runs along the base of the Peña Orniz in the Cantabrian Chain imbued in history called the River Sil.
The course of the River Sil runs through the León counties of Babia, Lacia and El Bierzo, La Cabrera and the Orense county of Valdeorras.
The Ribeira Sacra is part of this river that has a long and important association in wine production.
The stretch that runs along these vineyards is an amazing natural feature and one of incredible history.
